Dido's second studio album, "Life for Rent," released on September 29, 2003, is a folk-pop record produced by her brother Rollo Armstrong and Rick Nowels. It is Dido's second album in her discography, following "No Angel" (1999).
The album features several hit songs, including "White Flag," released on July 7, 2003, which became a global success. Other notable singles include the title track "Life for Rent," "Don't Leave Home," and "Sand in My Shoes."
"Life for Rent" was a major commercial success, selling over 12 million copies worldwide, making it the fourth best-selling album globally in 2003. It was the fastest-selling album by a female recording artist, reaching five million sales in just two weeks. In the United Kingdom, it was certified 9x Platinum and became the seventh best-selling album of the 2000s.
On the US Billboard charts, "Life for Rent" peaked at number four on the Billboard 200. The lead single, "White Flag," reached number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the US Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks, staying on the chart for 66 weeks. The album achieved 2x Platinum certification by the RIAA in the United States for sales of over 2.1 million copies.
