Devil's Due is a 2014 found footage horror movie directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The film follows a newlywed couple, Zach and Samantha McCall, who experience a series of increasingly disturbing and supernatural events after returning from their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic.
The movie begins with the couple getting married and then leaving for their honeymoon, where they encounter a group of locals who offer to take them on a tour of the island. During the tour, the couple is drugged and Samantha is apparently impregnated by a demonic entity. Upon returning home, strange things begin to happen, and Samantha's behavior becomes increasingly erratic and violent.
The movie is presented in found footage style, with the footage purportedly captured by the couple's handheld camera. The filmmakers use a mix of practical effects and digital effects to create a sense of dread and horror as the story unfolds.
Despite some effective scares and a creepy atmosphere, "Devil's Due" received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising its use of found footage and others criticizing its lack of originality and reliance on horror movie cliches. However, the film did find an audience among horror fans and grossed over $36 million at the box office against a budget of just $7 million.
