Debbie Harry's debut solo album KooKoo was released on July 27, 1981. The album is the first in her discography as a solo artist, recorded while on a break from her band Blondie. Produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of Chic, the album features a fusion of funk, rock, and dance music. The album's hit singles were "Backfired," which reached number 43 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and "The Jam Was Moving," which reached number 82 in the US. KooKoo reached number 25 on the US Billboard 200 and number six on the UK Albums Chart. It was certified gold by the RIAA in the United States and silver by the BPI in the United Kingdom.
