Darkness, released in Spain on October 11, 2002, and in the United States on December 25, 2004, is a supernatural horror film. The movie follows an American family who moves to the Spanish countryside and experiences increasing disturbances in their new home, where six children disappeared forty years prior during an occult ritual. The film stars Anna Paquin, Lena Olin, Iain Glen, Giancarlo Giannini, and Fele Martínez. It was directed by Jaume Balagueró and produced by Julio Fernández and Brian Yuzna. Darkness had a worldwide box office gross of approximately $34.4 million against a budget of $10.6-11 million.
