Calling all shopaholics and fashionistas! "Confessions of a Shopaholic," a delightful romantic comedy released on February 13, 2009, follows the hilarious exploits of Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher), a recent college graduate with a serious shopping addiction. Despite her financial woes, Rebecca dreams of working for the glamorous fashion magazine Alette. However, fate lands her a job at a financial magazine called Successful Saving, a world far removed from her love of designer clothes.
The film, directed by P. J. Hogan ("Muriel's Wedding," "Peter Pan"), is packed with laughs as Rebecca juggles her demanding job, her mounting credit card debt, and her blossoming feelings for her handsome boss Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy). The cast also includes Joan Cusack, John Goodman, John Lithgow, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Leslie Bibb.
"Confessions of a Shopaholic" was a commercial success, grossing over $108 million worldwide. The film's lighthearted look at overspending might even inspire you to treat yourself (within reason, of course!) to a little retail therapy after watching.
