Billy Elliot The Musical: Original Cast Recording is the 2005 London cast album for the stage musical based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. With music by Elton John and book and lyrics by Lee Hall, the musical follows a young boy in a Northern England mining town during the 1984-85 UK miners' strike who discovers a passion for ballet. The first disc presents the full original London cast recording, led by Liam Mower as Billy Elliot alongside Haydn Gwynne, Tim Healy, and Ann Emery, and includes Electricity, Shine, Solidarity, and Expressing Yourself. A bonus second disc features Elton John himself performing three songs from the show, The Letter, Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher, and Electricity, offering a distinct interpretation of the material alongside the theatrical cast versions.
