Better Call Saul is a television drama series that serves as a prequel to the acclaimed show "Breaking Bad." Season 1, which premiered in 2015, follows the story of Jimmy McGill, a struggling lawyer in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as he begins to transform into the unscrupulous criminal lawyer Saul Goodman.
The first season introduces viewers to Jimmy's world and his relationships with his brother Chuck, a successful lawyer with a debilitating condition, and Kim Wexler, his former lover and fellow lawyer at a small law firm. Along the way, Jimmy gets caught up in a series of shady business deals with a colorful cast of characters, including the streetwise drug dealer Tuco Salamanca and the shady businessman Craig Kettleman.
Throughout the season, Jimmy struggles to make a name for himself and gain respect in the legal community, often resorting to unethical tactics and bending the law to his advantage. As he becomes more deeply involved in the criminal underworld, Jimmy's personal and professional relationships are put to the test, leading to a dramatic finale that sets the stage for the show's future seasons.
"Better Call Saul" Season 1 is notable for its strong writing, complex characters, and attention to detail in capturing the atmosphere of Albuquerque and the world of criminal law. The performances of Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy/Saul, Jonathan Banks as the enigmatic fixer Mike Ehrmantraut, and Michael McKean as Jimmy's brother Chuck are particularly noteworthy.
