Released on August 14, 1990, "Then & Now" is a compilation album by British progressive rock supergroup Asia. It falls between their studio albums Astra (1985) and Aura (1991) and serves as a retrospective of the band's early years.
The album is split into two sections: "Then" features classic tracks from the band's first two albums, "Asia" (1982) and "Alpha" (1983), featuring the iconic lineup of Geoff Downes, Steve Howe, Carl Palmer, and John Wetton. These include hits like "Heat of the Moment" and "Only Time Will Tell."
"Now" showcases newer material recorded after Steve Howe's departure, including the successful single "Days Like These" which reached number two on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. Despite not reaching the UK Albums Chart, "Then & Now" achieved steady sales over the years, eventually achieving Gold certification by the RIAA in 1998 for over 500,000 copies shipped in the United States. It remains Asia's third best-selling album there, following "Asia" and "Alpha."
