Andy Gibb's "Shadow Dancing" is his second studio album, released by RSO Records in June 1978 in the United States and September 1978 in the United Kingdom. It was his highest-charting album in several countries, including America and Canada, and his only album to chart in the UK. The album was recorded from December 1977 to February 1978.
"Shadow Dancing" spawned three US Top 10 singles. The title track, "Shadow Dancing," released in April 1978, became a massive hit, spending seven consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieving platinum status. It was notably ranked by Billboard as the number one single of 1978. Other successful singles from the album include "An Everlasting Love," which reached number 5, and "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away," peaking at number 9. The album itself reached number 71 on the US Billboard 200 year-end chart for 1978 and number 38 on the Canadian Albums (RPM) year-end chart.
"Shadow Dancing" has sold over 1,231,790 copies across Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA in the United States on June 17, 1978, for sales of over 1,000,000 copies. It also earned Platinum certification in Canada (100,000 copies) and Hong Kong (20,000 copies), and a Silver certification in the United Kingdom (60,000 copies).
