Alien Nation is a science fiction television series that aired in the late 1980s. It is based on a 1988 film of the same name. The series is set in an alternate universe where Earth has recently been visited by a humanoid alien species known as the Tenctonese, who are slaves originally bred by a powerful alien race called the Overseers. These aliens crash-landed on Earth and were integrated into human society as "Newcomers."

The show follows the partnership between a human police detective, Matt Sykes, and his Tenctonese partner, George Francisco. Together, they work for the Los Angeles Police Department, solving crimes that involve both humans and Newcomers. The series explores themes of racism, prejudice, and social integration as the Newcomers face discrimination and struggle to adapt to their new home.

"Alien Nation" was praised for its thought-provoking storytelling and social commentary, as well as its innovative approach to exploring issues of immigration and cultural assimilation. The show's blend of science fiction and police procedural elements captivated audiences during its brief run, but unfortunately, it was canceled after just one season. However, it developed a cult following and later inspired several television movies and spin-off novels.
