This album appeared relatively early in their discography. Hit songs included on this compilation are "Dream On," "Same Old Song and Dance," "Sweet Emotion," "Walk This Way," "Last Child," "Back in the Saddle," "Draw the Line," "Kings and Queens," "Come Together," and "Remember (Walking in the Sand)." The 1 album achieved significant commercial success, reaching number 43 on the US Billboard 200 chart and number 30 on the US Top Rock Albums chart. It has been certified 12× Platinum by the RIAA, signifying sales of over 12 million units in the United States, making it their highest-certified album. In Canada, it earned Platinum certification. In the United Kingdom, the original release was certified Gold, and a later reissue achieved Silver certification.
