9 is a 2009 animated science fiction film directed by Shane Acker. The film takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has been wiped out, and the story revolves around a group of sentient ragdoll-like creatures, each marked with a number from 1 to 9, who must come together to survive and unravel the mystery of their existence.
The protagonist, simply named "9", is a small, brave and curious ragdoll with the number 9 on his back. He awakens in a desolate world and soon discovers other ragdolls with different numbers who are also alive, each with their own unique personality and abilities. As they explore their dangerous surroundings, they encounter mechanical beasts known as "The Machines" that are bent on destroying them.
As the ragdolls uncover clues about their past and the origin of the Machines, they must work together to overcome various obstacles and evade the relentless pursuit of the mechanical creatures. Along the way, they encounter a benevolent ragdoll named "2" who provides guidance and reveals the truth about the history of their world.
