Directed by the creative duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and produced by Neal H. Moritz alongside stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, this riotous sequel to the 2012 hit takes the undercover action from high school to a local college. The narrative follows officers Schmidt and Jenko as they move their headquarters across the street to an old Vietnamese church to continue the Jump Street program under the command of Captain Dickson, played by Ice Cube. As the pair attempts to infiltrate a new drug ring centered around a substance known as WhyPhy, they find their partnership tested by the diverse social pressures of university life. Channing Tatum delivers a standout comedic performance as Jenko, who finds a kindred spirit in a fraternity brother played by Wyatt Russell, while Jonah Hill portrays Schmidt's struggle to fit into the bohemian art scene where he meets a poetry major played by Amber Stevens West. Peter Stormare and Jillian Bell provide memorable supporting roles that add to the film's sharp, self-referential humor. Featuring a high-energy score by Mark Mothersbaugh and a soundtrack filled with contemporary party anthems, the film cleverly skewers the tropes of action sequels while exploring themes of friendship and personal growth. This installment is celebrated for its improvisational chemistry and an iconic end-credits sequence that satirizes the future of the franchise.
