21 is a 2008 heist drama directed by Robert Luketic, inspired by the true story of the MIT Blackjack Team as told in Ben Mezrich's book Bringing Down the House. The film stars Jim Sturgess as a brilliant but struggling MIT student recruited by a professor, played by Kevin Spacey, to join a team of students using card-counting techniques to win big at Las Vegas blackjack tables.
The film also stars Kate Bosworth and Laurence Fishburne as a casino security expert closing in on the team. Written by Peter Steinfeld and Allan Loeb, 21 was the top film at the North American box office during its first two weekends of release. Runtime is 123 minutes.
