In My Tribe is the third studio album by 10,000 Maniacs, released in 1987 on Elektra Records and produced by Peter Asher. The album marked a commercial breakthrough for the band, built around Natalie Merchant's lyrics and the group's folk-rock instrumentation, including guitarist Robert Buck's mandolin and pedal steel work throughout.
The album includes "Hey Jack Kerouac," "Like the Weather," and a cover of Cat Stevens' "Peace Train," along with "A Campfire Song," featuring a guest vocal from R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe. Closing track "Verdi Cries" features a string arrangement by David Campbell and piano from Don Grolnick, and the album went on to be certified double platinum by the RIAA.
