The Amityville Horror is a 2005 horror film directed by Andrew Douglas and starring Ryan Reynolds, Melissa George, and Jesse James. The movie is a remake of the 1979 film of the same name, which was itself based on the allegedly true events detailed in Jay Anson's 1977 book.
The story revolves around the Lutz family, consisting of George (Ryan Reynolds), Kathy (Melissa George), and Kathy's three children from a previous marriage. They move into a large, beautiful house in Amityville, New York, which they acquire at a seemingly irresistible price due to its dark history. A year prior, a man had murdered his family in that very house, claiming that voices compelled him to do so.
Almost immediately after moving in, the family begins to experience eerie and disturbing phenomena. George starts to exhibit unusual behavior, becoming increasingly distant and aggressive. The children also notice strange occurrences, such as imaginary friends and unsettling visions. As the events escalate, Kathy becomes increasingly concerned for her family's safety.
