Heroes is a science fiction drama series that aired on NBC from 2006 to 2010. The first season of the show premiered in September 2006 and consists of 23 episodes.

The show revolves around a group of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. These abilities range from telekinesis and time travel to flight and invisibility. The characters are initially unaware of each other, but as they begin to cross paths and work together, they realize that they are part of a larger plan that involves saving the world from destruction.

The main characters in the first season of "Heroes" include:

    1. Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) - a high school cheerleader with the ability to regenerate any part of her body.
    2. Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) - a Japanese office worker who can manipulate time and space.
    3. Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) - a hospice nurse who can absorb and use other people's powers.
    4. Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) - a genetics professor who is investigating the origins of these abilities.
    5. Niki Sanders (Ali Larter) - a Las Vegas stripper with superhuman strength.

Throughout the first season, these characters and others discover their powers, learn to control them, and face off against various villains who are also aware of these abilities. The season is structured around a larger narrative arc that involves preventing a catastrophic event that could lead to the destruction of New York City.

The show's first season was praised for its unique approach to the superhero genre, its diverse cast of characters, and its compelling storytelling. It won several awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Masi Oka.
