"Despicable Me" is a 2010 animated comedy film produced by Illumination Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures. Directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, the film follows the story of Gru, a supervillain who undergoes a transformation after adopting three young orphan girls. "Despicable Me" is known for its quirky humor, unique characters, and heartwarming story.

The film is set in a fictional world where villains and superheroes coexist. Gru, voiced by Steve Carell, is a despicable and cunning supervillain who dreams of stealing the moon. He lives in a gloomy mansion with his loyal minions, small yellow creatures who aid him in his evil plans. However, Gru faces competition from a younger and more successful villain named Vector (voiced by Jason Segel), who steals the Great Pyramid of Giza.

In an attempt to regain his status as the top villain, Gru hatches a plan to shrink and steal the moon using a shrink ray. To do so, he needs a crucial component that Vector possesses. Gru adopts three young orphan girls named Margo, Edith, and Agnes from an orphanage as part of his scheme to gain access to Vector's lair. However, he soon discovers that the girls bring unexpected joy into his life and he starts to develop a soft spot for them.

As Gru's relationship with the girls deepens, he realizes that there is more to life than just being a villain. He learns the true meaning of family, love, and sacrifice. Along with his bumbling minions, Gru sets out on a journey to foil Vector's plans, protect the girls, and ultimately become a better person.

"Despicable Me" is known for its distinctive visual style, memorable characters, and witty humor. It also features an iconic musical score by Pharrell Williams, including the hit song "Happy." The film was a commercial success, spawning multiple sequels and spin-offs, and becoming a beloved franchise for both children and adults alike. It has been praised for its heartwarming story about the power of family and redemption, and its entertaining blend of comedy, adventure, and animation.
