Aerosmith's tenth studio album, Pump, was released on September 12, 1989, by Geffen Records. This album marked a significant point in their discography. Hit songs from Pump include "Love in an Elevator," "The Other Side," "What It Takes," and "Janie's Got a Gun," all of which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. "Love in an Elevator" was Aerosmith's first number one hit on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Pump was a commercial success, reaching number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and was the fourth best-selling album of 1990. It achieved septuple platinum certification from the RIAA in 1995, signifying sales of over seven million copies in the United States, tying with "Get a Grip" as their second-best-selling studio album in the US, only behind "Toys in the Attic." In Canada, the album was certified 7x Platinum for sales of 700,000 copies. Globally, Pump has sold over 10 million copies.
