A Walk to Remember, released on January 25, 2002, tells the story of Landon Carter, a rebellious high school senior, who falls unexpectedly in love with Jamie Sullivan, the earnest and devout daughter of the town's Baptist minister, after being forced to participate in community service and a school play. Their burgeoning romance faces challenges from their contrasting social circles and Jamie's strict father, but their bond deepens. The film takes a poignant turn when Jamie reveals she is terminally ill with leukemia, testing the strength and commitment of their love. The movie stars Mandy Moore as Jamie Sullivan and Shane West as Landon Carter, with Peter Coyote portraying Reverend Sullivan and Daryl Hannah as Cynthia Carter. It was directed by Adam Shankman and produced by Denise Di Novi and Hunt Lowry. A Walk to Remember achieved a worldwide box office gross of approximately $47.5 million against a production budget of $11.8 million.
