30 Days of Night

30 Days of Night, released on October 19, 2007, is a horror film set in Barrow, Alaska, a town that experiences a month-long polar night. During this darkness, a group of vampires descends upon the isolated community to feed. The movie follows Sheriff Eben Olemaun, played by Josh Hartnett, and his estranged wife Stella Olemaun, portrayed by Melissa George, as they try to protect the remaining residents until sunrise. The film was directed by David Slade and produced by Sam Raimi, Robert G. Tapert, and Douglas Wick. The screenplay was written by Steve Niles, Stuart Beattie, and Brian Nelson, based on the comic book miniseries by Niles and Ben Templesmith. 30 Days of Night grossed over $75 million at the box office against a budget of $30 million. Other notable actors in the film include Danny Huston as the lead vampire Marlow and Ben Foster.
