Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is an action-adventure RPG open world game set in the Golden Age of Piracy, specifically the Caribbean during the 1715 era. You play as Edward Kenway, a young captain who gets pulled into the age-old conflict between the Assassins and Templars.
The game features a vast open world to explore, both on land and at sea. You can sail the seas in your ship, the Jackdaw, engaging in naval combat, conquering forts, and plundering shipwrecks. On land, you can explore cities, complete missions, and assassinate targets using your parkour skills and deadly arsenal.
The game was originally released on October 19, 2013 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. A month later it was released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. In December 2019, it was ported to the Nintendo Switch as part of The Rebel Collection alongside Assassin's Creed Rogue.
